tuning idea: Honda S2000 performance

Some thoughts on the performance of the F20C engine in the Honda S2000 ....

intake side, the ultimate Product: The J's Racing Tsuchinoko Intake Kit. Priced a bit expensive at about 1300CHF, but the entire intake / air filter box from throttle valve replaced. The air stored in the "Tsuchinoko" improved the response in gas exchange ring.

is somewhat better, the version with replacement air filter (Spoon) and injection (in the picture of J's Racing, Spoon offers also a similar product on). Samco offers a silicone filling tube, which is the original plastic tube from air filter to Throttle valve replaced.

A revised throttle with enlarged diameter, as here (enlarged flap of original 62mm diameter 65mm, outer edge increased to 70 mm diameter) from Spoon, improved responsiveness and increases engine performance.

The manifold of Tracy Sports received in a test of a Japanese magazine, the best grades. This is therefore a secret among tuners. The products by Toda and J's Racing are certainly among the best and can also be used safely.

The catalyst for all vehicles more technically a brake. Due to the complete replacement with a direct pipe (in this case by J's Racing) can increase the performance of the engine further. The direct pipe from J's even allows that the original cover can be mounted. Whatever the case, such a product should not be used on the road.

The C304 70RS exhaust system in stainless steel by J's Racing with 70mm diameter and also to improve performance and save with only one pipe a lot of weight compared to the original. Furthermore, this translated at a cost of about 950CHF extremely inexpensive. Variants with two outlets (like the original exhaust system), in titanium and with a smaller diameter of 60mm are also available.

not be neglected: An adaptation of the controller is in any Case recommended to get the most out of the parts shown above. Spoon in the image control unit (ECU) is shown. By custom maps for fuel injection and ignition performance and the response is improved. The VTEC uses between 5900-6200rpm and the rev is left at 9000rpm. Custom controllers are also other tuners, like J's Racing, GT Works, Mugen, etc. offered. GT Works, for example, sets the VTEC at 5300rpm and increases the speed limiter at 9300rpm. The controllers are usually offered in exchange: it sends a control unit with tuner and be replaced by a modified back.

The Toda Racing Light weight pulley kit replaces the front wheels, which are driven by the belt on the engine (alternator, crankshaft, etc.). The lighter weight and adjusting speed for the alternator an increase in performance is achieved. The engine is also revving up through the turns faster and less resistance.

But how much more performance can be achieved by all these modifications? I think that the performance by max. increase to around 260PS can. Draws we consider that the S2000 origial is nearer 225-230HP, 240HP instead stated, this is an increase of 30-35PS. And this just before the rev limiter (peak values). Viewed over the entire speed range, the area under the curve is considerably improved by these modifications, however. Those who want to achieve as a 260PS must use more aggressive camshaft, a 2.2l or 2.3l Kit (increasing the compression) and perform a cylinder head machining.
